Fat soluble vitamins are soluble in fats so these can dissolve in adipose tissue as they can retain more in body therefore they cause more toxicity to an organism. Fat soluble and water soluble vitamins have same function as to yield the energy production reactions. But most of all they are very different in their chemistry and target cells to do different works in body. The characteristics of fat soluble and water soluble vitamins indicate clearly the differences of their action on target .fat soluble vitamins are soluble in fat and organic solvents. These are lipid like molecules and absorb s along with dietary fat. If fat absorption is sufficient then the fat soluble vitamins can be taken up by body at the rate of 40-90 % of the daily need. In comparison to fat soluble vitamins, water soluble vitamins have less storage ability and they cannot retain in body for much time because of their water solubility property and these are excreted out of the body through blood filtration in kidneys.
Because of their retaining less in body and as they are excreted out in urine they are less toxic and cannot cause much harm as fat soluble vitamins do.
